Rosh Hashanah
|
There is usually a single Orthodox service for all major festivals at which everyone is welcome. During Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services, separate Progressive services and children's services are organised. Details of all these services can be found on the synagogue display boards, and in Community publications (weekly bulletins, and monthly newsletter) which are distributed to members. Visitors should contact [email protected]. We want children to enjoy coming to our services, so we have set up various activities for children to participate in. If you would details of the children's services please contact [email protected]. Enquiries can be made on the synagogue office phone (01865) 514356 or by emailing [email protected]. Details of times of the festival prayers will be available prior to the festival, please contact [email protected]
ATTENDING SERVICES Everyone is welcome to our High Holy Days services. Whether you are attending the Orthodox or Progressive services, please note that no prior arrangement is required and that there is no reserved seating in any service. However, if you are attending Orthodox services, we ask you to respect our arrangement for the separation of men and women. HOSPITALITY We regard it as our mitzvah to offer hospitality to any Jewish people who happen to be in Oxford, away from their home communities, at this special time of the year. Should you require a meal, please contact us on (01865) 514356 or email [email protected]. DONATIONS You will appreciate that, as a small and independent congregation, we are always conscious of balancing our budget. Our commitment to our wonderful Centre means that this is a continuous struggle for the Community's membership. Therefore, we hope that you will respond in the traditional manner by making a donation in accordance with your means. Whatever its size, you can be assured that it will be much appreciated. Should you wish to make a donation, please send your contributions to The Honorary Treasurer at 21 Richmond Road, Oxford OX1 2JL. A pre-paid envelope is also available from the lobby. Cheques should be made payable to 'The Oxford Jewish Congregation'. All the major festivals are celebrated at the synagogue. |
