Educational Visits
|
We welcome educational visits and field trips to our synagogue.
Through the work of the school visits team our Synagogue fulfils the role of an educational resource to the outside world. It does this by playing host to children and their teachers drawn from the Oxfordshire area providing them with a basic understanding of Jewish religious worship and Judasim. An arranged visit must be pre- booked through our web site or requested by phone. Our guide will contact you with all relevant details and requirements. The team try to match the visit to the age and expectations of the visitors. Each visit usually lasts about an hour. A typical visit includes a general introduction to the synagogue, Jewish tradition and customs, discussing artefacts, undressing and dressing a Sefer Torah (the scroll), and depending upon the time of year, an explanation of festivals. There is plenty of time to ask questions. We try to match the visit to the age and expectations of our visitors. As part of the synagogue’s role in the wider community, we introduce them to "living Judaism", helping to increase knowledge and to foster understanding. The process is two-way and we value the contributions made by pupils and teachers alike. If you would like to arrange for a school party to visit the synagogue please contact [email protected] . We look forward to your visit! |
