Mitzvah Day
|
Mitzvah Day, and annual event, is the second or third Sunday in November.
The synagogue - both children and adults - take part in Mitzvah day on a Sunday in the autumn getting involved in helping local and national charities in a variety of ways. In recent years we have made soup for a homeless shelter, and decorating and filling boxes for Asylum Welcome children in a nearby detention centre, donated glasses for Vision Aid, donated and knitted hats and scarves for those in freezing conditions in the former Soviet Union for WJR and also winter clothes, made and donated books for children in Africa and many other projects. In the afternoon, we have often joined with other local people of several faith groups to plant trees in the Cumnor Hurst community woodland.
