OxfordShir
|
OxfordShir was founded in 1994. Our repertoire includes Hebrew and Yiddish melodies, traditional folk-songs and music specially arranged for us.
In addition to giving regular concerts, OxfordShir is frequently invited to sing at Weddings, Bar and Bat mitzvahs as well as taking part in Interfaith Services. The most notable of these is the annual Holocaust Memorial Service at Keble College where we sing together with the college choir. OxfordShir is always ready to welcome new members. There is no need to be able to read music, just to enjoy singing and be able to hold a tune. There are no auditions. Rehearsals, usually on Thursdays evenings, are normally held every other week in term time at the Oxford Jewish Centre, Richmond Road. Rehearsal dates are published both in the OJC Newsletter and weekly bulletin. To share some magical musical moments with OxfordShir, get in touch at [email protected]g. |
