OJC Membership
Application for membership of the Oxford Jewish Congregation is
welcomed from any person of the Jewish faith. The OJC is based
at the Oxford Synagogue and Jewish Centre, which premises are
available for all forms of Jewish worship. Members are free to
attend the form of worship of their choice. However, all members
should be aware that their personal and individual status in Jewish
Law (and, where relevant, that of their children) will determine
the nature of their access to OJC facilities and services, in
respect of life-cycle events and religious rites. These may include
brit milah (circumcision), bar/batmitzvah, marriage and burial.
A member of the community deals with marriage, burial
and bereavement issues and makes arrangements in accordance
with the needs and practises of the particular family.
Spouses/partners of full members of the OJC, who are not of the
Jewish faith, may become Associate Members of the OJC, through
Family membership. Individuals who want to join the OJC, but whose
Jewish status cannot be defined under the terms of any denomination/group
described in the OJC Constitution as 'being in accordance with
established tradition and usages', may become Friends of the OJC.
Further details and
an application form together with subscription details may be
obtained from the Membership Secretary membership@ojc-online.org
who can also advise on filling in the form. Please state your
name, address and telephone number when requesting the form. Alternatively,
