We
are unique because...
Welcome
to the Oxford Jewish Congregation
We are a unique
Jewish Community in the UK providing for the needs of Jews in
Oxford, whether residents, students or visitors. Though small
in size it encompasses under one roof Orthodox, Masorti and Progressive
forms of prayer, sometimes simultaneously, The members of the
community, whatever their form of worship, come together in the
many communal activities as one congregation, welcoming also the
stranger "that is within their gates", a frequent occurrence
in Oxford. The Oxford Jewish Congregation is a
rare, if not unique, community of Jews.
The OJC encourages membership of
the Congregation for all Jewish residents and anyone who is visiting
for any extended period of time. (Undergraduates at both universities
are automatically considered to be members of the Congregation
during their period of study in Oxford.) As a small community
we welcome Jews of all denominations and are delighted when they
choose to join the OJC.
A major development of the Oxford Jewish Centre has been completed
recently and the building was rededicated in November 2004. Further
information about the project, and some photographs of the site
as it unfolded are available.
If you would like
to hire the building for your own activities, contact connections@ojc-online.org.
